SafeSiteX was started by EHS professionals who spent years running safety programs at manufacturing plants before deciding to build a better tool.
In 2021, our co-founders Yuki Tanabe and Marcus Webb were running EHS programs at two different Pittsburgh-area manufacturing plants. Both were doing their compliance tracking in spreadsheets, their corrective action follow-up over email, and their OSHA 300 log updates on Friday afternoons before they remembered.
During a shared OSHA training course, they spent two hours comparing notes and realized their problems were identical. The existing EHS software on the market was either priced for corporate enterprise contracts at $200K+ or built for general risk management rather than manufacturing-specific OSHA compliance.
They left the course with a rough architecture on a napkin. SafeSiteX incorporated in January 2022. The first plant went live in October that year.
Three principles that shape every decision we make about the platform.
Documentation matters, but finding the hazard before the injury is what actually keeps workers safe. We build tools that detect, not just record.
Replacing cameras and sensors is not the answer. SafeSiteX connects to what you already have rather than requiring you to buy new hardware to use it.
Most manufacturing plants have one EHS coordinator for 300+ workers. We build for that reality. Automation has to carry the compliance load, not add to it.
Pittsburgh is a natural home for a manufacturing safety company. The region has a dense concentration of automotive, steel, glass, and food processing facilities within two hours of our office. Our engineering team can visit customer plants by car, not plane.
That proximity matters. We run on-site implementation sessions, join customer safety committee meetings, and walk plant floors with EHS coordinators. The product decisions we make come from direct observation, not user research surveys.
We raised a Seed Round in 2023 and have been growing steadily since, serving plants in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Michigan.
